Occupational Health and Safety Unit
Over the years since the establishment of Suleiman International University, many efforts and programs have been carried out at the local, regional, and international levels in areas that serve and develop the community. As part of the efforts made by the university administration to support the strategic plan aimed at enhancing and developing the quality of educational outcomes in an academic environment filled with safety and security, the Occupational Health and Safety Unit at the university seeks to ensure that all university employees enjoy a safe and risk-free work environment that guarantees the health and safety of staff, students, visitors, and contractors.
Occupational health and safety is no longer a luxury but must be a priority for all institutions. Based on the principle of protecting the lives of the university’s staff and visitors, as well as safeguarding the campus, facilities, and assets worth millions of dollars, the idea emerged to establish a dedicated administrative unit for occupational health and safety at Suleiman International University.
Occupational health and safety in educational institutions represents a system that focuses on the prevention of work-related injuries and illnesses, as well as the protection and promotion of health. Occupational health includes maintaining the highest levels of physical and mental safety and health for workers in all professions, while effectively contributing to enhancing their productivity in both quality and quantity. It also reduces losses caused by accidents, their economic and social impacts, sick leave, compensations, and other consequences of occupational injuries and diseases.
The Occupational Health and Safety Management System serves as the general framework through which all responsibilities related to occupational health and safety for employees and stakeholders are managed. This system helps institutions improve their performance by working in an integrated way that ultimately achieves a high level of quality.
